How do I hire on an ex-navy electrician electronics technician?
Jul 29, 2009 by Kris | Posted in Other - Careers & Employment
I work at a marine electrical and electronics company and we are primarily operated by ex-navy. The standards that are met in the navy transition quite well with the quality of work that we insist on giving our customers. That said, I find it tough to find good employees through veterans of unemployment. Is there another option to find a good naval electrical (motor control and generator paralleling) or electronics (radar & sonar troubleshooting)?
Yes their is a way, how I'm not sure.
I have been targeted by potential employers based soley on my job (Submarine Sonar Technician) and I'm still over 1 year from my EAOS (when I could get out).
I would contact the DoD or DVA to start to see how to go about that path.

I would search for blogs or social network groups that the people you're looking for may frequent.
Also, learn tools to help you find the right fit for your organization, as the skillset is only half the battle. www.employwinners.com has some great info on hiring the right person for your workplace culture.
Can you visit veterans clubs of anysort and just chat up a few people? Word of mouth is often the best way to get what you need!

LAS VEGAS -- Friday was Day 2 of the Consumer Electronics Show and the Pocket Radar ($249, available spring 2010), continues to make waves, after strong showings at both Tuesday's "CES Unveiled" preview at the Venetian and Thursday's "Showstoppers" event. (All dollar figures in U.S.)
The device was designed for the sports enthusiasts and allows users to measure the speed of a passing puck, baseball or bicycle using a simple, point-and-shoot technique and digital display.
The unit, which runs off of two AAA batteries, uses Doppler radar technology to determine how fast an object is moving and can track a baseball from 70 metres and a car from 800 metres away. Tech-loving CES attendees aren't the only ones who love the Pocket Radar: the device has been named one of the Consumer Electronics Association's top new consumer technologies for 2010 and it has been recognized by the CEA for its design and engineering, too.

Volvo S60 includes pedestrian detection with full auto brake ...
by John Day
Volvo said its new S60 includes a radar and camera system that can Dick pedestrians in front of the car, on guard if someone goes in his path - and then automatically trigger the full power braking if the car the driver fails to respond in life. Volvo said it knows of no other system that can do the same.
Pale detection with Full Auto bottom consists of an entity newly developed dual radar technique incorporated into the grille of the car, a tailor camera in front of the inside nurse-reflector array, and a dominant management segment.Skip radar scold is to identify any object in front of the car and learn to detach it. The device determines the model of remonstrance than it is. The aim is also scheduled to meet in front of vehicles that are at a point or are unsteady in the same direction as is the custom made car with the system.
Thank you to the competitors encyclopedic radar dual status chimera, pedestrians about to take action on the floor can be detected at the crack on. The camera has a greater outcome than the previous item genesis. It is realistic to see the monkeys wandering the trend.
"Self-reduce the speed of the system requires that the position was confirmed both by radar and camera. Thanks to the advanced detection technology employed, it is now possible to polish the full braking power," explains Thomas explains Broberg, postposition refuge major advisor at Volvo Cars.
Walk detection with Full Auto restriction can escape a smash with a peripatetic at speeds up to 35 km / h if the driver does not have time.At higher speeds, the kernel is on the reduction of the car give a head start as far as imaginable quondam turnover. A load drop of the burden means that the risk of serious injury is greatly reduced. For exemplification, if the shipment is reduced from 50 km / h to 25 km / h, detection with hold Stale Up Full Auto is expected to compress the misfortune in danger as much as 20% and in some cases with uncontested up to 85%....
