Jim Souhan: The call that started it all

We all differentiate Brett Favre teases Brad Childress. What we didn't certain until this week, when Childress conducted a over-long and funny interview with me in his office, was that Childress teases Favre. Constantly. He imitates Favre's Southern drawl -- it's comical to get wind of Childress' Midwestern growl demanding to replicate Favre's Slingblade syntax -- and needles him about his maundering news conferences.
Childress also offered novel details regarding his recruitment of and relationship with Favre. Sounding certain and cheerful, Childress even said, "Hey, all's well that ends well with a Wonderful Bowl win.''
Childress already had offered me a seat in the gargantuan massage chair that sits by his desk, saying E.J. Henderson, Steve Hutchinson and Michael Strahan recently had tried it. I asked him to review his recruitment of Favre, and he talked about the day "I unequivocal to take one more swing.''
Favre had told Childress he wasn't cheerful to commit to playing football. Childress had told his combine that the pursuit of Favre was over at the beginning of training tent. Here it was, weeks later, and Childress was unready far-calling Favre on a Monday morning.
