Im looking for a radio install kit for an aftermarket radio for a 2000 Grand Prix. I went to my local auto parts stores and all they had was the Metra ones and my friend has that on his GP and the radio sticks out an inch or two and just looks horrible. I want a kit that makes the radio just come out maybe a quarter inch like it does on most cars. Help me. Thanks.
Well me and my friend have the same radio and I stuck my hand back there and it felt like it had some room back there. Im not too sure but I recall seeing some GP's with aftermarket radios that looked normal in there.
Also if that is the case (no way of getting the radio not to stick out) are there any better looking kits because the Metra ones just look cheap and make it just look like crap. I saw a website a while back that had some kits that said Grand Prix as well as other cars that lit up, anyone know what site that is.
the problem is the radio mounting depth on that car is only 5.75 inches and most aftermarket radios are over 6 inches deep. if the kit doesn't stick out some the radio will not fit.

I mainly need to know how to remove the dash/console cover without any damage, for the installation i will use a kit and buy a harness.
the install kit comes with directions to take the dash trim cover off. it even tells you where each screw/clip is
